Located in the heart of Brussels, the Brussels Institute Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB) and Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), the two leading universities in Brussels.

Their origin goes back 150 years. Six Nobel laureates, two Abel prizes, two Fields medals and three Wolf prize laureates were professors and/or alumni of the universities. Both universities strive to break down the walls of ignorance and dogmatism by stimulating ground-breaking research at the highest level of creativity, without taboos or prejudice. This implies crossing boundaries and building bridges between disciplines and different socio-economic or cultural environments.

BrIAS hosts the Fellows at its premises on the Usquare site for up to five months, offering an interdisciplinary, collaborative, free-spirited environment, fostering mutual emulation and cross-fertilization of ideas.
