Workshop: Algorithmic Transparency for Digital Inclusion Professionals
Algorithms: What Are They? How Do They Affect Our Lives and Rights?
Tools, Guidelines, and Best Practices for Digital Mediation
We are pleased to invite you to participate in a workshop focused on algorithms and their implications for mediation practices!
Designed for and with practitioners in the field, this workshop aims to deepen understanding of how algorithmic systems work and how they manifest in everyday life. It will also address issues of governance, as well as their social and environmental impacts. This workshop is part of a continuing education initiative that promotes the exchange of best practices, critical thinking, and collective engagement with digital issues.
On the agenda for this one-and-a-half-day session:
– gain a better understanding of how algorithms work and how they influence everyday life, through concrete explanations,
– discover and test practical educational tools, and leave with guidelines and tools you can use in your work,
– participate in role-playing exercises to better understand the interactions between citizens, mediators, and trainers,
– exchange ideas with peers about your practices, questions, and needs.
This workshop is designed to be a space for experimentation, sharing, and co-creation, grounded in real-world realities and attentive to issues of accessibility, empowerment, and participation.
Who is this workshop for?
Digital mediators, trainers, facilitators, program coordinators, field workers, and engaged, curious individuals.
This workshop is for anyone in Belgium, France, and the Netherlands who supports the public in their digital activities and wishes to better understand, question, and communicate the issues surrounding algorithms, without losing sight of the social, political, and environmental dimensions.
