What is The Café IAssos project?

The Café IAssos France-Belgium project equips actors in the social and solidarity economy (SSE) to play an active role in digital democracy in the age of AI. Building on the Café IA initiative, it will organise six sectoral Cafés IA and one transnational event in Brussels, tailored to the medico-social, community education and socio-professional integration sectors.The project will train 30 facilitators and directly engage around 200 staff and volunteers across France and Belgium. It aims to strengthen digital citizenship skills, support ethical AI use, and develop a replicable model that can be transferred across Europe.

Why take part in the Cafés IAssos?

Because AI is already here! And it raises fundamental questions… Can it become a lever for inclusion rather than a factor of division? What about the protection of our beneficiaries’ data? What environmental impacts and what model of society underpin these technologies? And for us, within our organisations, what do we need in order to talk about it, use it… or choose not to use it?The Cafés IAssos are free meetings, open to everyone, designed for you, actors of the social and solidarity economy (SSE). They are not a technical training on AI, but a space for critical and collective discussion.The SSE contributes to the transformation of the economic system and of society. In this political role, we have a responsibility to take a critical look at the use of digital technologies, in order to remain aligned with the values and principles of the SSE.

What you will do during a Café IAssos

During these convivial moments, you will have the opportunity to- understand the challenges of AI and data in your sectors (medico-social, community education, socio-professional integration…), in a critical, inclusive and contextualised way;

– discuss the opportunities and risks of AI;
share your questions, doubts and experiences;

– reflect collectively on ethical, inclusive AI serving the common good;

– question your own uses of AI, and discover cases of use and non-use of AI in other SSE organisations.

A Café IAssos will take place as follows:

1. Morning of interactive activities

– discussions around your perceptions and uses of AI;
– presentation of concrete cases of use and non-use of AI (in the medico-social, community education and socio-professional integration sectors);
– collaborative workshops: How can AI, or not, address issues within your organisation?
– sharing of the morning’s learnings and identified needs.

2. Friendly LUNCH until 1pm

A sandwich buffet will be available to you.

3. Thematic afternoon

Some Cafés IAssos offer an afternoon of activities. In Belgium, an extended workshop is planned on 16 April, in Liège, to initiate the creation of an AI usage charter within your organisations.

Where and when do the Cafés IAssos take place?

This workshop will take place on March 17, 2026, in Lille. Additional sessions will be held between March and July at various locations across France and Belgium. Click here to learn more.

The project is funded by an EU Erasmus – Simplified partnership (25PSA0007).
