Vrije Universities Brussels, Université Libre de Bruxelles and FARI are organizing the fifth International Conference on Hybrid Human-Artificial Intelligence (HHAI 2026).
Taking place from 6 to 10 July 2026 and bringing together researchers and practitioners from fields including Artificial Intelligence, human-computer interaction, cognitive and social sciences, philosophy, ethics, and complex systems. The conference will take place in Brussels, where the goal of HHAI is to develop AI systems that complement human abilities, highlighting the importance of adaptive, collaborative, responsible, interactive, and human-centered intelligence. These systems leverage human strengths and compensate for weaknesses, while also considering social, ethical, and legal implications.
As the fifth edition of this international conference series, HHAI 2026 will showcase current research and emerging perspectives on hybrid human-artificial intelligence, with a particular emphasis on responsible, human-centred, and collaborative AI. The programme will open with workshops and tutorials, followed by three days of conference sessions exploring a wide range of topics across the field. Hosted by the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and the Université libre de Bruxelles, the event will also highlight Brussels’ role as a centre for interdisciplinary dialogue on the future of AI and society. The open call for demos and posters remains open until 17 April 2026, with notifications scheduled for 1 May 2026.
