AI Training for Data Protection Officers

In partnership with the Data Protection Institute, FARI is bringing a course that aims to equip DPOs with a thorough understanding of AI, its ethical boundaries, and its practical applications. As the role of DPOs expands beyond GDPR compliance to encompass advisory duties on ethics and technology, this training becomes essential.

As artificial intelligence (AI) revolutionizes industries, organizations eagerly seek to integrate AI into their business to keep up with the competitive landscape. However, the European AI law introduces a complex regulatory framework aimed at protecting its citizens from potential negative impacts, which some critics argue could hinder innovation.

To respond to this need, DPI and FARI built a comprehensive three-day training designed specifically for Data Protection Officers (DPOs). This course aims to equip DPOs with a thorough understanding of AI, its ethical boundaries, and its practical applications. As the role of DPOs expands beyond GDPR compliance to encompass advisory duties on ethics and technology, this training becomes essential.

Training Objectives

Our training program is meticulously crafted to arm DPOs with the knowledge needed to actively engage in AI deployment within organizations. Here’s what you can expect:

– Hands-on experience with AI to get to grips with the theory
Clear explanation of AI law and how it interacts with GDPR
– In addition to legal frameworks, we also look at regulations and (ethical) frameworks
– We focus on the architecture of AI applications and data models. This allows you, as a DPO, to brainstorm with AI experts

Course Modules

The training is structured into five comprehensive modules:

– Part 1: AI Lab
Part 2: Legislation and regulations
– Part 3: Data and technology
– Part 4: Risk and governance models
– Part 5: Practical risk-based approach
