Sébastien Meeùs is a PhD candidate in law at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB), in joint supervision with the Université de Montréal (UdeM), under the supervision of Professors Karim Benyekhlef (UdeM) and Benoît Frydman (ULB). He is a research assistant at HEC Paris within the Smart Law Hub, at ULB in the Perelman Centre, and at UdeM in the Cyberjustice Laboratory. He also serves as a teaching assistant for the Data Law course at ULB.
Sébastien Meeùs focuses his research on the legal impacts of Web3 technologies, video games, and metaverses, with a particular interest in how they shape digital habits. This line of inquiry led him to undertake a thesis on legal norms in virtual environments, exploring key concepts such as decentralization, interoperability, and technological self-regulation.
Passionate about knowledge dissemination through innovative formats, he created the YouTube channel Legal Pixels, a space dedicated to analyzing the complex and fascinating links between law and digital technologies. In 2023, he was awarded the ULB Scientific Outreach Prize for his video series Cyberlex.
