Valentina Dalla Giovanna is a legal researcher at FARI – AI for the Common Good (VUB-ULB), where she works on applied research projects designed to make the law clearer and more accessible in the face of rapidly evolving technologies and practices. Her work explores how technological innovation reshapes contemporary legal practice and raises complex societal questions. She focuses particularly on the regulation of artificial intelligence — notably the AI Act — as well as data law and medical law.

Before joining FARI, Valentina was part of the Smart Law Hub under the direction of Professor Gregory Lewkowicz. There, she contributed to several European research initiatives, including LASO, which develops tools to assess the risks of integrating AI systems into hospital settings, and the Brain Data Hub, a collaborative project promoting data altruism in the fields of mental health and neuroscience.

Alongside her research, Valentina has been practicing as a lawyer at the Brussels Bar since October 2019, allowing her to bridge theory and practice while grounding her academic work in real-world challenges. Fluent in five languages — Italian, French, English, German, and Dutch — she brings a multicultural perspective that broadens and deepens her understanding of how technology and law intersect across diverse contexts.
