Arnau Dillen earned a master’s degree in computer science, specializing in artificial intelligence, from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) in 2018. He then worked as a research engineer at the Interuniversity Institute for Bioinformatics in Brussels. In 2020, he began a joint PhD between VUB and CY Cergy Paris University, supported by the EUTOPIA initiative. His research bridged movement science, computer science, and information technology, culminating in a dissertation titled Brain-Computer Interfaces for Real-Life Applications, which he defended in October 2024.
Currently, Arnau is a post-doctoral researcher in the Applied AI team of the VUB AI research group. His expertise includes real-time EEG decoding for control applications and time-series processing, with broader interests in data-driven and machine learning systems—particularly those that emphasize explainability and integration of expert knowledge. At FARI, Arnau delivers training on AI for the common good.
