Brussels, Belgium – As we live in a time when sustainability becomes one of today’s pressing issues, the presence of remarkable leaders is essential to drive positive change. At FARI – AI for the Common Good, we are fortunate and proud to have Karen Boers as our Managing Director, an inspiring innovator featured in the recently launched book, “Standing Up for the Planet: 45 Stories of Extraordinary Women Who Are Changing the World.”

Karen’s inclusion in this relevant book brings us immense joy and serves as a testament to the incredible leadership that steers FARI’s mission toward the common good. Her journey, as narrated in the book, mirrors the diverse stories of women making great contributions to creating a more sustainable future.

As she looks back on her journey, Karen expressed, “The unique Brussels environment, with layers of government from local to European, packed into a few square kilometers, with thousands of companies and a multicultural and multilingual community of citizens wrapped around it, seems like the perfect living lab to strike the balance between technological advancement and cautious safety.”

This quote encapsulates the essence of FARI’s mission and shows Karen’s approach to leveraging technology for the common good. Her leadership style, rooted in a commitment to innovation and social good, guides FARI in its pursuit of harnessing artificial intelligence for the benefit of society.

If you’re curious to learn more about Karen’s journey, along with the other women trailblazers featured in “Standing Up for the Planet,” the book is available here. We are delighted to celebrate Karen’s recognition and the broader acknowledgment of the significant impact women are making in sustainability.
